The Unboxing Experience
This idea is actually a super layered commentary on drop culture, hype culture, unboxing culture and video game culture at large.
At RunThis, we love to use the tools of modern media to create conversations and get people to spend time with our ideas.
In this case, it was the hype behind the Nintendo Switch 2 release, a couple online marketplace listings and an offering that was just wild enough to seem true in the context of 2025. But at least it was all coming from a good place.
Like all good stories, it all started on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace.
We framed it as a valuable experience designed to share once in a generation joy. And it wasn’t long til the gaming media entered the chat.
Then the influencers starting commentating
(one of them is a 2 minute disertation that’s actually really interesting and also incredibly satisfying given that he spent so much time engaging with our joke)
In the end, we heard the message loud and clear.
The joy of the unboxing experience was something we should give away for free. So we gifted it to the world’s most conceptual option. Our office building’s door man. After all, he’s a professional at opening things. It was the perfect ending to the perfectly outlandish multimedia story.
